The EOD Professional men's self-winding watch
Modern EOD Technicians across the world can trace their heritage to the Blitz, when the United Kingdom's cities were subjected to extensive bombing raids by Nazi Germany. In addition to conventional air raids, unexploded bombs (UXBs) took their toll on population and morale, paralyzing vital services and communications. Bombs fitted with delayed-action fuzes provoked fear and uncertainty in the civilian population. Organisation was needed, resulting in the creation of formal bomb disposal teams throughout the UK.
The United States War Department felt the British Bomb Disposal experience could be a valuable asset, based on reports from U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps observers at RAF Melksham in Wiltshire, England in 1940. The Office of Civilian Defence (OCD) and War Department both sponsored a bomb disposal program. The rest they say, is history.
80 years on, taking inspiration from these EOD pioneers, EODiwear have created just 50 watches to celebrate this unique brotherhood.
Description
This homage watch has a super luminous dial, a 5atm water-resistant stainless 316L steel case and band, as well as a uni-directional rotating ceramic bezel with 60-minute marking and screw down crown.
With synthetic sapphire crystal glass, it is only second to the diamond in hardness making your watch both durable and resistant to scratches and breakage, further adding to its timeless style.
Contained behind the clear display case back is an ultra-fine and precise Japanese Seiko NH35 self-winding 24 jewell movement. As the rotor is connected to the manual parts, it rotates with every movement of the wrist transmitting energy to the main spring. It will automatically wind up when you wear it, meaning there is no battery required.
The stainless-steel band is heavier than many other bracelets and is also stronger and more durable conveying both quality and status. The perfect watch for casual or business wear.
For a limited period only, the launch edition of only 50 watches comes with a carbon fibre design presentation box, an additional colour coordinated NATO style strap and microfibre cleaning cloth.
